Boggs, Displaying Lack of Leadership, Refuses to Take Responsibility for EVIT Failures
EVIT Board Member/Candidate for Maricopa Superintendent of Schools Claims She's a Leader, Deflection Proves Otherwise
ABC 15 story here.
Hoodline story here.
Shelli Boggs is a member of the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) governing Board. She is its immediate past-President. Boggs is also running for Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools. She is pictured below setting a good example for Maricopa County’s students.
Around three months ago, in March of 2024, the Arizona Auditor General released a report, detailing financial mismanagement by EVIT. This report is only part 1 of 2 and the Auditor General will be publishing another report focusing “on the District’s construction spending, including building a foster youth housing facility and renovating a building on its campus for a charter school, and its plans for operating the foster youth housing facility, due to issues identified during our audit.”
…did you catch that? More bad news is coming re EVIT, a second negative report is needed “due to the issues identified during our audit” the Auditor General writes. All of this happened on Boggs’ watch when she was President of the EVIT Board.
Essentially, Boggs is asking Maricopa Republicans to nominate her for a promotion from a school board to a county-wide position. On the campaign trail, Boggs often claims she’s a leader, …it’s about the only thing she can parrot, albeit without providing any supporting details…but leaders take responsibility for the failures of their organizations and either nip problems in the bud before they become public, or, when they do become public, they step up, admit the failures, quickly fix the problems, apologize, and promise to avoid the same mistakes in the future. Boggs has done none of these, but she offers excuses to deflect blame from herself.
EVIT, as an organization, admitted to every single finding that the Auditor General made, however, when Maricopa Superintendent of Schools candidate Nickie Kelley used the report to attack the presumptive Democratic Maricopa Superintendent nominee, Dr. Laura Metcalfe, who is also an EVIT Board Member, on Facebook, Boggs became enraged. Mind you, Boggs’ apoplectic display occurred on Nickie Kelley’s personal Facebook page which is totally classless and par for the course of Boggs’ behavior.
Boggs losing her mind is almost tangible at the bottom of her first post. Note the lack of grammar and the misspellings: “it will be in you best intetest”. She’s had weeks to fix the errors and she still, to date, hasn’t. (Someone who can’t spell or use proper grammar wants to be Maricopa Superintendent of Schools? Seriously?) Note the repetition of the same phrase “you can look it up” which suggests she’s wound so tight that she can’t think straight. Note the repeated exclamation points. Note the use of caps which denote shouting. Note posting thrice instead of once and going back and editing the original. Note the overuse of the word “better”, a word the Democrats use in spades: see the Citizens for a Better Arizona organization. I guess Shelli must be spending time with Randy Paraz. One can almost see the veins bulging in Boggs’ neck, the spittle flying from her lips, the grand mal seizure.
Clearly the criticism of Metcalfe hit so close to Boggs that Boggs didn’t have the good sense to either keep her mouth shut, or to refrain from defending a Democrat, or to avoid implicating herself. Boggs, as unhinged as any Democrat, had to make the post about her, because she’s narcissistic, and remove any separation from the story and herself. She could not resist injecting herself.
Boggs’ logic failures are on full display also. She wants to claim she’s a leader as a member of the EVIT Board, but then she turns right around and claims Metcalfe is not a leader.
Boggs and her shrill Karen-trolls screech that Nickie Kelley should get her facts straight, but Nickie got her facts from the Auditor General’s report and two different news reports, all saying the same things which EVIT admitted to.
Boggs is unfit for leadership in any capacity and her behavior reflects that she is unstable. There were failures on her watch as EVIT Board President and another negative report is forthcoming. In un-leader-like fashion, she minimized the issues, deflected, attacked a fellow Republican, and defended a Democrat, Metcalfe, her potential opponent should Boggs win the nomination. Her response to Nickie Kelley was unhinged, showing that Boggs does not have good judgment…or sanity. Now, Boggs wants a figurative promotion into a county-wide elected position that has already overspent by millions of dollars. Boggs’ present refusal to take responsibility for her past failures at EVIT demonstrate that she will act in the future in the exact same fashion if she were to be given the role of Maricopa Superintendent. She will continue to refuse to take responsibility and the taxpayers will continue to pay for overspending in the office. Taxpayers are too overburdened with inflation and government overspending to afford Boggs as Maricopa Superintendent.
The reality is that Boggs feels entitled. We’ve had enough of entitled politicians. And the conventional wisdom is that trailing candidates shoot at the frontrunner. If Boggs were in the lead, she would not care what Nickie Kelley does. The problem for Boggs, a hairdresser, is that Nickie Kelley, a STEM teacher, is far and away the superior candidate. Boggs is flailing, terrified, and engaging in histrionics because she knows she’s going to get trounced by Nickie Kelley.
